SparkNotes, Anyone?

Okay, so The Red Album dropped today, and for the first time in a long time, a lot is going on. Here is a breakdown:

  • After everything is all said and done, we will have over twenty new recordings on our hands (including the ten album tracks). To find out where to find what, check out the list Donny made over at albumsix.
  • Weezer hijacked Sirius Radio over the weekend and played songs by their favorite bands, songs off The Red Album, and even performed 4 songs off the new record. If you happened to miss this, check out this link for mp3s of the performance (thanks ohjonas). (more…)

Live DVD

In 2005, Karl Koch of weezer.com informed us that the 2005-12-22 - Shinkiba Studio Coast #3 - Tokyo, Japan was professionally filmed for what was supposed to be the release of a LIVE DVD. Since then we were informed that this was placed on the back burner like many other Weezer projects.

Recently however, this video surfaced on YouTube. After speculation about the origin of the video took place on YouTube and the forums, albumsix user terbremlap contacted the author of the video, who replied:

“im an editor in hollywood and that weezer stuff was a job i did for thier japanese tour. We where told by the label that the piece (as well as 4-5 other ‘bumpers’ - havent posted those…) where to be included between performances from that japanese tour in a DVD. Ive never seen the final product as i dont live in japan Smile The other ‘bumpers’ included a meet and greet with the fans, a q&a with reporters and couple of them just hanging out at various locals in tokyo.”

Some fans are now wondering if this DVD is circulating somewhere in Japan, or if this video editor is misinformed. To discuss this recent confusion, head over to the albumsix forums.

Blast Off! Video Premieres on Yahoo!

blastoff.jpg

The video for “Blast Off!” is now available on Yahoo.com. Karl informed us about the video via weezer.com the other day:

“Rivers’ “Alone” album now has a video, for “Blast Off!” … Check it out! I think youll get a kick out of it.”

The video seems to contain footage of Rivers during a recent trip to Japan, where he can be seen jumping on a trampoline and trying his hand at Japanese calligraphy.

The video can be seen on Yahoo.

New Rivers Podcast

The second Rivers Podcast has now been posted on the official Rivers Podcast page. Rivers speaks with Alternative Press about the recently released “Alone” as well as meditation, soccer, and family life.
